Reality, Virtually, Hackathon! Sponsored by MIT Media Lab

I have no connection or inside information here but posting since the school and sponsors seem like the real deal. Is anyone on the East Coast attending?

About the Hackathon
OCTOBER 7 - OCTOBER 10, 2016 (WORKSHOPS ON OCTOBER 7, 2016)
This hackathon held on the MIT campus is called Reality, Virtually because it will promote new applications built for vertical market segments. The competition will stretch the amazing advancements and expertise in VR and AR gaming and entertainment during the past couple of years, into new and lesser-cultivated fields.

Participants from MIT, other universities, and the VR and AR communities around the country will form teams to develop innovative software solutions that will unlock the technology’s potential in categories such as VR/AR for good, Film and Journalism, Health/Medicine, Learning and Education, Industry, Art, Productivity, Advertising and Monetization, Social Networking, and other vertical applications that participants feel passionate about.

Sponsors will will get a first look at new apps for their platforms and get to see how developers and designers create app solutions that fit new VR and AR use cases.

Workshops will be held the day before the Hackathon, to bring participants up to speed with development platforms, specifics about headset platforms, software tools, and design.

Mentors, skilled in design, platform development and vertical VR and AR applications will provide guidance to and help participants breakthrough conceptual and development roadblocks.

The Hackathon will end on Sunday October 9, 2016 when project presentations and demonstrations begin. Finalists will present to a panel of judges comprised of the leading technologists, designers and business leaders on Monday morning, October 10, 2016, after which prizes will be awarded.
