New member Introduction

Hello everybody!

My name is Peter. I’m into 360 photography, occasionally 360 video. When I don’t use regular cameras with stitching to make my panoramas or full spheres, I use a Ricoh Theta X. You can see some of the images and tours I’ve made with the Theta X lately here:

It’s a great camera and I like it a lot! Sadly though, like all 360 cameras, the lenses are insanely fragile and prone to scratching - and because the focal length is so short, any scratch, however small basically ruins the camera. I’m on my third Theta X because of this :frowning:

What brought me here is because I’m looking for the elusive TP-1 lens protector for the Theta X from Ricoh, that I can’t seem to find for sale anywhere in Europe, and this post on this here board seems to suggest that the Puluz lens guard for the SC2/S/V seems to work well on the X. I had dismissed it because its diameter seemed to small for the X, but obviously I was wrong.

You might wonder why I stick to the Theta X instead of the higher resolution Insta360 X5 and its replaceable lenses: that’s because I use Linux exclusively. The Theta X produces images and videos I can edit out of the box. All the other 360 cameras do not. Also, I like that I can use it as a live video source in Linux.

But the fragility of the lenses is killing my camera budget

Anyway, glad to have found this community. I hope I might contribute something of value here.
