RICOH THETA Lens Protection with $17 Clear Lens Guard and Sticky Tape

image

I received a question about the effectiveness of a bubble lens guard for the THETA X. These are about $16 on Amazon and comes with three sets of circular sticky tape. The video below covers install and shows three shots in different light conditions. I’m thinking of driving down to an indoor space later and taking more shots. The lens does adversely impact the image. However, if you’re using the camera in harsh, rugged conditions, it could be useful to extend the life of the camera at the sacrifice of some image clarity. It’s raining today and I could not test in direct sunlight on the lens guard.
