file numbering issues

I have been using the Theta X for some time now and realised that the file number is is not going back to zero when the photos are removed from the camera. any advise?

You may want to contact RICOH to see if there is an official answer. The method of using the “factory reset” is a bit cumbersome. Putting into developer mode used to void the warranty and stil might.

If you delete the files with the API (like the mobile app), it should update the database inside the camera.

If you delete with a USB cable with the camera mounted as a filesystem, you may have problems. I had problems with the numbering in my tests.

The THETA X has a reset item on the menu of the body of the camera. This may accomplish what you want. I have not tried it.

When it comes to file naming, I hate it when anything else is used than yyyymmdd_hhmmssxx.
This gives a chronological order in a filesystem easily and does not distinguish between video and still.

I do not get the case of the fire investigator and the lawyer, as anyone can change the numbering in the filename always.

Of course, one wants to separate captures for different projects on the camera right away. I think it should be easy to create a new folder in the camera filesystem and designate it as a target for new captures.
This is feedback that I gave years ago to Labpano, but never came about. Over the years I have gotten the impression that camera manufacturers are not seriously interested in field feedback to enhance functionality. Since I have my X, I haven’t seen much moving for it either.
