Live Streaming Z1 with HDR Live Streaming Plugin?

Hi, I’m new here. I came here to see if anybody’s had success running the HDR Live streaming plug-in from FlowTours on an updated Z1. The plug-in seems to have not been updated since the firmware has been updated. Does anybody know about this?

Secondly, is there another pathway to make a super high-quality live stream with a Z1 happen?

Thanks

The developer @biviel is active on this forum.

You can also get streaming over a USB cable.

Please provide some additional information on your use case.

Have you used the RICOH Wireless Live Streaming Plugin?

You can connect the Z1 to a Mac or Windows computer with a USB cable.

If you’re using a robot, people often use a small single board computer like an NVIDIA Jetson to restream the video feed to a another computer for processing and network transmission.

Hello @skysquid ,
I tried to reach out to you with no success. Plugin works, at least one user is using it that I’m aware of and it worked fine. I will update my firmware in a couple of days and let you know the result. You may face some issues that may be related to something else too, like network, hotspot setup, etc. Let me know please where is it failing for you and will do my best to help.

Thanks, @craig ,
I’m going back working on this plugin again after some pause I had to take.

@skysquid if you want high quality and ease of use with a commercial offering, then I recommend the HDR Live Streaming Plugin. Also, you should send feedback to the developer @biviel .

Hello Craig. Yes a USB cable would be faster.

I want to stream directly into a Meta Quest 3 for near realtime immersion.

Ideally, I would have a fairly easy-to-go, ready-to-deploy setup using a spare iPhone, but that is probably not likely doable. I’m on a Mac so that limits my choices.

I like your idea of an embedded Jeston. In your option, how challenging is that to configure?

Yes, I have tried the RICOH Wireless Live Streaming Plugin. It still comes out a lower resolution than desired.

Thanks

From the location where the camera is, can you connect the camera with a USB cable to a Mac or Windows PC?

I don’t have one of the new Mac Mini computers, but they look small. You can use a software called OBS that is free and open source.

If latency is not a problem, you can stream directly from OBS to YouTube and then viewer the YouTube live stream in the headset. There will be a latency of several tens of seconds.

If you’re trying to send the stream directly to the headset without going over the Internet, you can try RTSP.

Once inside the headset, you need to run some type of application that can accept the RTSP stream and handle navigation.

Where is the camera located? Is it on a flying drone?

What are you doing with the stream? Is it an experience for a audience?

Or, are you using the stream to navigate the drone (the latency will make this difficult unless the drone has autonomous capability)
