RICOH THETA Z1 Firmware 3.01.1 - Adds Single-Fisheye, simultaneous recording of 2 videos, 50min video length

Z1 dual-fisheye jpeg

Android mobile app interface

single fisheye Z1 videos

1fps video single lens

Usage Notes

Application was built to test the API, not for end-user use.

Z1 must be in video mode or the API to set the video to single lens will fail.

  1. first set camera to video mode
    then
  2. set to single lens

You must trigger the video start with your hand. I do not believe the video can be started with the API in this mode.

Works with Z1! Great, thanks for testing that and showing the results.

Hi,

thank you for your fast response.

We are using the Z1.
I work in a post production house and we have used it in the past for HDRI’s for 3d environments which has been great.
But now we are looking at using it for photogrammetry (walking through an environment).
I was a bit frustrated with the speed of still jpg capture with interval timer - 1 frame every six seconds (and also being stitched).

So then we were also looking at video capture as a solution but the standard resolution is not great.
I then stumbled upon this thread and saw the video test and super I installed - thankyou @craig ! it and it seems to work

  • 2 frames a second is cool, so we will be testing.

Maybe we should look at building something with the API, as ideally JPGs with manual image control unstitched as fast as they could be written would be perfect. - If there is anything like this available please let me know.

Cheers
Dominic

Hi Craig,

Awesome thank you very much I have downloaded your test app and will be testing for our use case - photogrametry.

Check the reply to @jcasman for more details

You may need the CaMM data and video frame extraction:

Lens spec is here:

There are two framerates, 2fps and 1fps. The video I tested yesterday was 1fps.

exiftool -G0:1 -s R0010409_1.MP4 |grep VideoFrameRate
[QuickTime:Track1] VideoFrameRate : 1
