How To: Edit and Stitch RAW DNG Images From RICOH THETA Z1 with Adobe Lightroom Classic CC and THETA Stitcher

Hello. I used Ricoh Stitcher plugin for Lightroom and here is what I got. Would anyone be able to tell me what can be wrong?? Thank you!

Please post your settings screen:

Hello.

Can you put the DNG file up on a location like Google Drive or DropBox and then put the link to the DNG file in this forum? Maybe someone can go through the steps and test it.

Your lightroom and windows version meets the requirements, right?

https://support.theta360.com/en/enviroment/#LRSTITCH

Adobe Lightroom Classic CC v8 or higher and Windowws 10 64 bit 1607 or higher?

Here is a link to DNG hdr file.

Both Windows and Lightroom meet the requirements. But I am not sure about GPU. I have NVIDIA NVS 310 and can not find if it is compatible with OpenGL 4.1 or higher

Hi, Andrew.
I’ve reproduced your issue on my computer. It’s an error of Photo merge/HDR. See the screenshot as below.

The resolution must be 7296 x 3648. Yours is too small.

And I’d like to highly recommned you to try on #SingleDNG. It’s faster and more comfortable, IMO it has enough image quality. How do you think?

#SingleDNG developed in LR Classic and THETA Stitcher.

Good luck!!

PS.
If you want to do the bracketing and develop of Z1’s images, you should use PTGui pro. It’s perfect.

Hi Toyo. Thank you very much for your help. May I please ask where you can change resolution? DNGs that I used for HDR have correct resolution 7296x3648 but final HDR image produced by Lightroom has resolution of 1024x512. Also by SingleDNG you mean to just use one DNG image instead of HDR created from several?

Absolutely, yes.
I used to be a tester of Z1 until the official release. That’s my conclusion.

Saw an interesting technique on Facebook to combine 3 DNG images.

Achim Siegmund

  1. Import of 3 DNG original Theta Z1 Files to Library and Develop
  2. Select these files and rightclick to PhotoMerge / HDR
  3. Created HDR opens as new image (4) in Develop
  4. Change options in image 4
  5. rightclick on image 4 and choose “edit in” / edit in RICOH THETA Stitcher.exe
  6. mini window opens with 3 options
  7. Choose one and click edit
  8. opens RICOH THETA Stitcher v.1.00.4
  9. uncheck align

Attach my system information.

Your setup and configuration is fine, I can’t see any issue there.
This looks like a bug, perhaps in the stitcher.
Can you try this on a different machine?
I myself have a workstation on which the stitcher is not working at all. On another one, everything is fine.

I turned off my graphics card and tried again, and it worked fine.
I am suspicious of compatibility with AMD 5700XT and stitching programs.

When I reloaded and tried the graphics card, the same bug appeared again.

On December 19, Ricoh has provided a new version 1.10.0 of the stitcher with the following changes:

  • DNG files can now be processed in RICOH THETA Stitcher even if the file name is changed. It is also now possible to change the name of the file to export to any user-set character string and save the file.
  • Bug fix

Hello CorLeone,

I have created and HDR image in Photoshop RAW, imported it into Lightroom and exported it as per instructions in Theta Stitcher manual.

I am still getting the ‘No compatible DNG files’ warning come up.

I am using the current versions of all three programs/plug-ins.

I have tried renaming, using filename sequence, but nothing I have tried so far works.

Am I missing something (hopefully!)?

Thanks,

Michael

Did you check this discussion?

I just bought a Z1 and trying to stitch both in lightroom and PS. Neither worked. I am getting a crazy screen preview. Can someone help. I have tried everything for the past two hours.
