There is likely a service center that can replace the entire lens assembly.

Disgusting philosophy or simply a poorly designed product that leaves the consumer to carry the hefty, brunt repair costs for a product prone to damage by default.
By poor design and over time, the camera lens (as it is removed or replaced into the supplied leather body protection case) will make contact with the felt material lining. This lining will scratch the thin, glass coating on the camera lens before effectively rendering the quality as unusable. The weakest link of any camera is the lens. This lack of foresight is a quality control issue and if not corrected by the manufacturer, this issue should be associated with a class action law suit to recompensate all those who replaced these units with new units or were compelled to buy into the bogus “repair” scheme authorized by Ricoh.
