Theta Z1 Scratched lens

Hi All,

I have searched the blog and found answers regarding this issue. I guess I am hoping something has changed. My Theta Z1 took a tumble and the lens is scratched. According to my research, Precision Camera is the only authorized repair option and their estimate is a minimum of $800.00. Is this true!!! I am shocked that this is the only option. I can’t say I will ever buy a piece of kit like this with the ridiculous repair costs, (new is around $900.00 now). My most expensive lenes don’t cost that much to repair.
Thanks,

Phil

I do not have a soluiton. You should continue to look for an authorized way, preferably at lower cost.

Ideally, you can find a Z1 with a dead battery on eBay or similar and try to swap out the entire lens assembly from another broken unit.

Thanks for your input.
According to Ricoh, Precision Camera is the only recommended repair facility in my region.
It seems ludicrous to design something this way. Very disheartening. My company has decided to forgo Ricoh and use cheaper cameras. I think of my photo gear as tools not absurdly precious objects’ d’arte.
