The Solution is simple but not related to the OS version or a reboot.
After connecting the Ricoh Camera the Apple Photos App (Digitale Bilder in german) is launched automatically. This App catches an exclusive Lock on the camera device.
Therefore the “Ricoh Theta File Transfer for Mac” App can never claim access to the device.
- The Apple App once opened has an “Action menu icon” with a “…” in a circle.
- While being connected to RicohTheta select this menu and change the Action to be binded to the event the camera is connected to the topmost option similar to something like “Nothing”.
- Close the app and open the “Ricoh Theta File Transfer for Mac” App
- The Ricoh Theta cameras now show up as a DCIM Folder with a subfolder for the camera “100RICOH” containg the files on the camera.
- Drag & Drop the files on your destination
- Works with videos > 4GB
- Delete the files from the app as needed after checking a successful transfer
Caveeats:
- The files date is maybe different to the usage of the Apple Photos app.
- Use exiftools to transfer the correct metadata from the exif camaera data into the files metadata as needed
I hope this gives you peace of mind!
