THETA Z1 Battery Usage

RICOH THETA Z1 Battery Usage Test

Use Case Simulation

Real estate workflow consisting of 10-50 pictures for a single site for property condition analysis, not for artistic promotion. Assumes that a property inspector can average 1 picture every 90 seconds and leaves the camera on for the entire shoot.

Result Summary

Z1 took 76 JPEG pictures in 1 hr 52 minutes with WiFi connected the entire time.

Opinion

Assuming that a typical property shoot consists of 20 to 60 pictures, the Z1 should be fine as long as the battery is fully charged at the start of the shoot. At full charge, the Z1 should be able to take 70 shots spaced out at 90 seconds per shot. If you need to take more than 70 shots, you can use an external battery connected with USB-C or an integrated battery grip handle like the ULANZI BG-3.

Setup

  • 6.7K HDR pictures, JPEG format only. No RAW.
  • 5Ghz wifi connection the whole time
  • picture taken every 90 seconds
  • bluetooth off
  • Z1 firmware v2.30.1
  • battery measured with API /osc/state

At the start of the test, the battery was at 100% with no pictures on the camera
