Is there any way (such as a third-party plugin) to adjust the in-camera stitching alignment of the Theta Z1 or any other Theta model? My videos are basically unusable and display all the same problems as others have posted here. Photo stitching is less glaringly bad, but it still bugs the hell out of me. I can post screenshots, but why bother? It’s the same story as everyone else.
(firmware is always kept up-to-date)
Backstory:
I bought the Z1 in 2020, just before the pandemic hit. It had alignment problems straight out of the box. I should have returned it, but instead I sent it to Ricoh’s repair service under warranty. They couldn’t fix it and sent me a new one, but it was no different. The camera store wouldn’t accept a return because the SN no longer matched the purchase, plus we were in lockdown. I was stuck with it and down a thousand dollars. Suffice to say I’ve been pretty bitter about it ever since and have used my Theta V instead. Well, now my V is dead.
As I write this, I’ve seen a number of similar topics appear in the submission screen and have looked through just about all of them. It sounds like a lot of people have similar problems with their Z1’s. I’m starting to wonder if the Z1 was just poorly-made and unfixable, thus why they came out with the second version relatively quickly.
It doesn’t sound like a solution has been found to this problem, but I wanted to ask one more time before I get rid of this thing via Ricoh’s recent Theta Trade-In offer. I can only hope the Theta X doesn’t have these problems.
