AE Bracket w/ RICOH360 app and THETA Z1

Does anybody know if it has the same capabilities as mentioned here:
New feature! "AE Bracket" added in the shooting mode.[Z1 ONLY]

If it’s missing, the old mobile app is still available for Android and iOS

@maru1 I just connected to my Z1 using the RICOH360 app on my iPhone 12. AE Bracket is one of the Shooting Method options.

Please note, I also connected to my X to see if there was a difference. AE Bracket does not show as an option when connected to an X.

For Z1, here’s what it looks like looking at the Image Shoot Method settings in the RICOH360 app on my iPhone 12:

There are multiple options for setting up AE Bracket:

  • Step (Exposure Interval)
  • Number of Shots
  • Shooting Order
  • ISO Adjustment
  • Self Timer
  • File Format

Step (Exposure Interval)

  • Can be set to 0.0, 0.3, 0.7, 1.0, 1.3, 1.7, 2.0, 2.3, 2.7 or 3.0

Number of Shots

  • Can be set as 3, 5, 7 or 9 shots

Shooting Order

  • zero to negative to plus
  • negative to zero to plus

ISO Adjustment

Default is OFF. It has some help text that indicates when turned on, the ISO sensitivity is adjusted when the maximum exposure time is reached.

Self Timer

OFF or delay the beginning of shooting for 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, or 10 secs

File Format

  • JPEG
  • RAW (DNG)

For comparison with X

Here’s what the Image Shoot Method settings screen looks like when connected to an X. No AE Bracket option shown.

Please note, I also connected to my X to see if there was a difference. AE Bracket does not show as an option when connected to an X.
I would think that this would work with the X as well since the API is for the X as well.

Does AE stand for Auto-Exposure? It seems like the X only supports manual.

Yes, it’s Auto Exposure. X does support setting of brackets, but it’s not auto. On the LCD screen, click on the settings icon when previewing what your photo will look like:

You’ll get to the Shooting Settings screen. Click on Normal Shooting to change to Multi Bracket Shooting:

Set the bracket settings manually

Thanks, I don’t think the point is to continue using the old mobile app because it will no longer receive maintenance

.

It seems like the new RICOH360 App does have auto-exposure multi-bracket for the Z1.

I’m reading this correctly? Inputs of Aperture/ISO/Shutter Speed manually or other methods are not available with the new app?

I see, but does that relate to the specific topic we are discussing? The learning curve for me, anyway, is already steep.

Doesn’t this post answer your question?

Got it, thanks for clarifying that.
