RICOH360 App Registers Camera with Modified SN then fails to connect

My physical Theta V has a serial number that starts with “XS”. When I register it in the RICOH360 app, the connection is successful during registration, but then the camera is registered with a serial number starting with “YL” instead of “XS”.

From then on, I cannot get the app to talk to the device, because the app is trying to find a network with “YL” in the name, but the actual Access Point from the device has “XS” in the name instead. Even while I’m manually connected to the Access Point network, the app doesn’t recognize the camera as connected and when asked to connect, it always asks to join a non-existent Access Point with the made-up “YL” serial number prefix in it.

I’m getting this same behaviour both on the Android and iOS versions of the app. How can I force the registered camera to keep the original serial number when registering or otherwise fix my connection issue.

Does the older mobile app with the black logo work?

Yes. Upon closer inspection, it turned out that I have an S, not a V, so the new apps were never going to work with it. Managed to use the Mac app to update the firmware on it and now it’s playing nicer with the legacy Ricoh Theta app, so as resolved as it can get.
